With its impressive towing capability and seating for up to eight people and plenty of space left for cargo, the latest full-size SUV to carry that legendary name is where you turn when only the biggest and most spacious vehicle will do the job.
There are plenty of versions of the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban for shoppers to choose from that cover a wide variety of specifications. Although most Suburbans are standard four-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive is still available at the entry-level with the LS and LT trim levels. Both models are available with four-wheel drive if you want it, but the RST, Z71, Premier, and range-topping High Country trim levels are exclusively four-wheel drive.
While there’s no hiding the immense proportions of this mighty SUV, the designers deserve credit for producing a stylish and modern model with crisp lines and sharp detailing, especially at the front. Depending on the trim level and colour, the 2024 Suburban has several different personalities. But make no mistake, all of them are big, imposing, and full of presence.

That goes to the rear or all four wheels through an excellent 10-speed automatic transmission. The RST, Z71, and Premier trim levels are also available with a 6.2-litre V-8 that comes standard with the High Country. That provides the Suburban with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The final option is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbodiesel with 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, that’s an option at every trim level.
Strictly speaking, even the sensationally opulent Suburban High Country doesn’t qualify as a bona fide luxury model. Even so, it’s hard to think of a feature that isn’t available for the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban. This year even sees GM’s Super Cruise feature offered for the first time, allowing a limited degree of hands-free driving on many highways. Super Cruise is available for Premier and High Country versions of the 2024 Suburban.
Start at the LT level or higher to get the 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen in place of the base model’s 8.0-inch unit. The LT and higher also get a 12.0-inch colour Driver Information Centre display that includes driver personalization, warning messages and vehicle information.
As the nameplate that’s been in continuous production the longest, you might assume you know all there is to know about the Chevy Suburban.
