Many vehicle shoppers in Weyburn, Estevan, Carlyle, Radivlle, and Regina are likely to need more than five seats occasionally, but perhaps only sometimes. If that’s the case, a full-size model could mean a lot of space, weight, expense, and extra fuel consumption you could do without a lot of the time. If that sounds like you, the 2023 GMC Acadia could be the perfect solution as a stylish midsize crossover SUV with a third-row seat that allows you to accommodate up to seven people.
The 2023 GMC Acadia is an attractive midsize crossover available in four confident trim levels to suit a wide range of budgets. The most affordable model is the entry-level Acadia SLE, which is a good specification for a base model, but most retail shoppers are likely to start a level above with the SLT. The SLT represents quite a significant price increase over the base model, but the enhanced standard specification more than justifies the extra cost.
Like the model below in the 2023 GMC SUV lineup, the Acadia AT4 offers a similar specification to the SLT but a more off-road-ready aesthetic. The top-of-the-range model is unsurprisingly a Denali, and the Acadia with that illustrious name more than lives up to the Denali reputation for style, quality, comfort, and luxury.
Unlike its smaller sibling in the GMC crossover family, the 2023 GMC Acadia isn’t available in a two-wheel drive format. All four models get AWD as part of their standard specification, but it’s a system with a two-wheel drive mode to help with fuel economy when AWD capability isn’t required. Although all models get the same drivetrain, there is a choice of engines.
The standard powerplant under the hood of the SLE and SLT trim levels is a potent 2.0-litre turbo-four that puts out a very useful 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The alternative is a more traditional 3.6-litre V-6 with 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque available, and this is the standard engine for the AT4 and Denali trim levels. Every Acadia sends its power to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the V-6 engine is available as an option for the SLE and SLT trim levels.
You can’t often claim a midsize SUV with a premium look and feel that represents solid value for money, but you can with the 2023 GMC Acadia. Even the base SLE comes with standard 18-inch alloys, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, front and rear park assist, and automatic emergency braking. The SLE could be the sweet spot for value for many shoppers with a raft of upscale features, making it feel anything but entry-level.
The SLT adds a Bose premium 8-speaker audio system, navigation, LED fog lamps, and perforated leather upholstery, while the AT4 is a very similar specification with some very attractive off-road styling cues added. Choosing the range-topping Denali gets you such upscale features as an 8.0-inch multi-colour reconfigurable driver information screen, heated and ventilated driver front seats, a head-up display, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and more.
The 2023 GMC Acadia delivers seven-seat SUV capability in a stylish, versatile, and highly desirable midsize package that can be excellent value for money.
