If you live in Weyburn, Estevan, Carlyle, Radville, or Regina and don’t want to draw attention as you drive around in your new midsize SUV, the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer might not be the best choice. On the other hand, if you want a fiercely styled SUV that you’ll always look back at with pride as you walk away from it, the refreshed 2023 Blazer is precisely the vehicle you need. But as well as its stunning exterior styling, the new 2023 Chevrolet Blazer also has the chops to prove you don’t have to choose between style or substance; you can have both!
Plenty of midsize crossovers try to squeeze a third-row in these days as automakers try to appeal to what they hope will be a wider audience. Of course, many shoppers don’t need more than five seats, and the Chevrolet Blazer appreciates that. Instead of squeezing an extremely tight third row of seats in the back, the 2023 Blazer prefers to offer ample space for five people with a decent amount of volume left over for cargo. The total passenger volume inside the Blazer is an impressive 3,053 litres, with 41 inches of legroom in the front seats and a very generous 39.6 inches in the back.
The exterior styling of the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is modestly refreshed for the new model year, with a new grille and slimmer lights at the front and rear that give the Chevy an even more futuristic look. The Blazer is now even more striking than it was, but there’s far more to recommend this stunning crossover SUV than just its exterior styling. The Blazer is great to look at, great to drive, and fabulous to be driven in.
Every version of the 2023 Blazer is as good to drive as it is to look at, and choosing between the two available engines isn’t necessarily an easy task. The first powerplant is a 2.0-litre turbo-four that develops 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, the standard engine for the entry-level LT model in front or all-wheel drive form. The second engine is a 3.6-litre V-6 that’s standard with the True North, RS, and range-topping Premier trim levels. This unit ups the power ante to 308 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, and it’s also available as an option for the LT. All configurations send power to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Many automakers are placing a strong emphasis on safety features these days, and Chevrolet has certainly adopted that philosophy with the new 2023 Blazer. Every model comes with frontal and seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the driver and front passenger, a knee airbag for the driver, and head-curtain airbags for the front and rear outboard seating positions. Also standard are a rear vision camera and tire pressure monitoring, but even more, advanced safety features are included and available.
The Chevrolet Safety Assist package is also standard, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. And if you choose the RS or Premier trims, the Safety Plus Package is an option that adds Wireless Charging, HD Surround Vision, a Rear Camera Mirror, Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Safety Alert Seat, and LED headlamps.
The refreshed 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is a midsize crossover SUV that doesn’t accept compromise.
